Company History
Bakor is the culmination of various strategic acquisitions and mergers between some of the leading manufacturers of quality asphaltic coatings and cements, high performance SBS modified bitumen membranes and specialty products. These manufacturers include Henry Company, Bakor Inc, Flinkote Company, Bakelite, and Monsey Bakor. Together, these companies represent over 190 years of research and development and proven experience in building products technology.
Bakor Inc.
Bakor brings over 60 years of experience focused on "Building Envelope" technology for the commercial, industrial, institutional and residential construction markets. Bakor manufactures the largest selection of air barrier products in the industry and is considered the North American leader in Building Envelope technology. The origins of Bakor dates from the company Bakelite and from the Flintkote Company (1939), manufacturer's of air barrier, waterproofing and roofing products. Later developments include a joint venture with Vedag GmbH of Germany, a leader in modified bitumen technology. Subsequently in 1993, Bakor acquired Vedag's Canadian subsidiary Globe Vedag. History also includes the first North American manufacture of SBS modified bitumen membranes at its Petrolia, ON facility (1979).
